WCCE Elimination Notice

On June 14th, 2023, the Washington County Board of Supervisors voted to eliminate the Washington County Commuter Express.

The last day of service will be September 29th, 2023.

Thank you to everyone who utilized this service over the years, and participated in the public meetings.

There are alternatives for Washington County Residents to commute downtown, some are listed in the attached Notice as well as at the following link: https://www.rides4washingtoncounty.com/

May 23, 2022

Construction westbound on Wisconsin Ave. between VanBuren and Broadway in downtown Milwaukee may cause some pick-ups to be a few minutes late for those being picked up west of the construction area.

Facemasks will no longer be required on Washington County Shared Ride Taxi or Washington County Commuter Express, effective April 19, 2022.

Thank you for all riders and drivers for your cooperation over the past two years. Please continue to be respectful of individuals who decide to wear a mask as a personal health choice.

WCCE afternoon run 15 (5:12 pm) will be changing beginning Monday, April 18, 2022. The new start time for the run from Water and State Street will be 5:22 pm. This is a schedule adjustment to align the scheduled service with the actual travel times with heavier traffic. 

The new schedule times are available at WCCE NOTICE OF SCHEDULE CHANGE 03.25.22.pdf and will be loaded into the RideWCCE app on April 18.

The WCCE will begin operating on the new schedule on Monday, January 3, 2021. The WCCE has two routes - one to Marquette and downtown Milwaukee, and one to the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center and VA Hospital.

The Washington County Public Works Committee approved a service reduction for the WCCE to begin on January 3, 2022. Service will be reduced from 23 runs to 16 runs - 8 in the morning and 8 in the evening. The WCCE will continue to serve Washington County residents commuting to Downtown Milwaukee, the Marquette High School and University campuses, the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center, and the VA Medical Center.  Comments from the public hearing on December 1, 2021 are being taken into consideration. A final schedule will be posted by December 17, 2021.

Comments from the public regarding proposed 2022 service reductions of the Washington County Commuter Express (WCCE)  are welcome and will be heard at the Public Works Committee meeting on December 1, 2021 at 5:30 PM at the Washington County Herbert J. Tennies Government Center, Room 1019.

Summary of proposed changes to the WCCE:

  • The current scheduled has 23 runs. The new schedule would have 16 runs-8 in the AM & 8 in the PM.  One run in the AM and one run in the PM is combined as mentioned above.
  • Current Runs 1, 10, 11, 13, 17 and 21 would be suspended.
  • Runs 7 & 10 are now combined into one run for Medical Center area, the VA, and Downtown Milwaukee-this would be Run 6.
  • Runs 16 & 17 are now combined into one run for Downtown Milwaukee, VA and the Medical Center- this would be Run 9.
  • Stops at Wisconsin & Plankinton; Rivercenter & Cherry; GE Health/Innovative Dr.; CBS 58 which is 60th St. & Pierce St; and Summit Place/70th & Washington are all eliminated.

RIDER ALERT

Due to ongoing staffing shortages, WCCE runs 7 and 10 will be combined in the morning (6:28 am & 6:30 am) and runs 21 and 23 will be combined in the afternoon (4:05 pm & 4:26 pm) beginning Thursday 9/23 through Friday 10/29. 

The combined routes will service the medical center complex and downtown Milwaukee.  Riders can expect an increase of ride time by approximately 10-15 minutes, especially in the afternoon. 

The AM departure times from the three park and rides will be on Run 10 schedule: 6:30 am/6:43 am/6:51 am. The PM departure times from downtown will be on the Run 21 schedule: 4:05 pm.
