NOTICE:

In compliance with the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision in Senne v. Village of Palatine, 695F3d597 (7th Circuit, 2012), and the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act (“DPPA”), 18 U.S.C. §2721 et.seq., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is no longer releasing personal information under the DPPA unless it falls under a permissible use. Personal information obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles, including an individual’s date of birth, drivers license number, social security number, home address, telephone number, photograph and medical or disability information is prohibited from disclosure unless one of the permissible uses applies. Permissible uses are listed in 18 U.S.C. 2721 (b).

Train vs Person Investigation UPDATE

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has concluded its investigation into the train vs person incident that occurred in the Village of Richfield on October 6th. The cause of death has been ruled an accident by the medical examiner’s office.

Train vs Person UPDATE

Washington County Sheriff Investigators received numerous tips in response to our call for assistance today in identifying the victim of a car versus train accident. One nearby resident had captured video of the person believed to be the victim walking in the area a short time before the incident. A Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy assigned to the Village of Richfield recognized the individual in the picture. Authorities were able to make contact and make preliminary identification. No additional information is being released. The investigation into the incident continues.

On October 6, 2021 at 2:41 pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Canadian National Railroad who reported that their train had struck a person. The person was walking on the tracks east of Scenic Drive between Lakeview Road and Willow Creek Road in the Village of Richfield. Sheriff’s deputies along with the Richfield Fire Department and Rescue were dispatched.

Fatal accident
09/26/2021
On Sunday, September 26th, 2021, at 2:39PM, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a single vehicle crash at County Highway A and Indian Lore Rd in the Town of Farmington. Deputies responded along with personnel from Kewaskum and Boltonville Fire Departments, and West Bend Intercept.

On Saturday, September 25th, 2021, at 3:00PM, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two vehicle crash located at the intersection of County Highway K and Addison Rd in the Town of Addison. Deputies responded along with personnel from Allenton and St. Lawrence Fire Departments, Hartford Rescue, and Lifestar Rescue.

Fatal Accident in Town of Erin
09/21/2021
On 09-21-2021 at 5:49pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a car vs telephone pole accident on Donegal Rd in the Town of Erin. The caller stated that the driver, a male in his early thirties from Washington County, was slumped over the front passenger seat and was non-responsive. There were additionally two children in the car who were alert and conscious. Deputies and Hartford Fire and Rescue were subsequently dispatched to the scene.

Infant Death Investigation
09/21/2021
WEST BEND, Wis. - The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a four-month-old female infant at a campground in the Town of Farmington today. The mother, a 38-year-old Washington County woman, called 911 at 7:34 am reporting her infant was not breathing and she was attempting to drive her infant to a medical facility. Deputies were able to meet the mother on Lakeview Rd at Cty Hwy A and take over CPR from a family friend and good Samaritan until medical responders arrived on scene.

The individual who appears on this notification has been convicted of a sex offense.

Addison Tactical Situation
09/01/2021
A 63-year old Town of Addison man is in custody this afternoon after a several hour standoff with the armed man came to a peaceful resolution a little after 11:00 am on 9/1/21. The incident began just after 8:00 am when the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting that the suspect had shot at his 60-year-old roommate with a rifle inside the residence, on CTH WW north of STH 33 in the Town of Addison. The roommate was able to escape the residence and go to a nearby farm and call 911. The victim escaped with minor injuries.

Jail Homicide 21-28137

Homicide charges were filed today in Washington County Circuit Court against an inmate after an attack last week in the Washington County Jail. Thirty-one-year-old George Telford of North Dakota was formally charged this afternoon with 1st Degree Intentional Homicide. These charges stem from a vicious, unprovoked attack that occurred on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 around 1:30 pm. The victim, a 23-year-old Washington County man, sadly succumbed to his injuries over the weekend.

Garage Fire in Town of Kewaskum

On 08/21/2021 at 3:30pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center took a 911 call of a reported garage fire on Kettle View Road in the Town of Kewaskum. WASO Deputies, Kewaskum Fire and the Kewaskum Police Department were subsequently dispatched to the scene.

On 08/21/2021 at 5:51pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center took a 911 call of a motorcycle versus mailbox crash in the Oakwood Manor neighborhood of the Village of Richfield. Deputies and Richfield Fire began responding to the location.
