NOTICE:

In compliance with the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision in Senne v. Village of Palatine, 695F3d597 (7th Circuit, 2012), and the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act (“DPPA”), 18 U.S.C. §2721 et.seq., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is no longer releasing personal information under the DPPA unless it falls under a permissible use. Personal information obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles, including an individual’s date of birth, drivers license number, social security number, home address, telephone number, photograph and medical or disability information is prohibited from disclosure unless one of the permissible uses applies. Permissible uses are listed in 18 U.S.C. 2721 (b).

UPDATE: Fatal Drug Overdose
11/21/2023
On Monday, November 20th, 2023, investigators with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Division, in partnership with investigators from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force and Racine County Sheriff’s Office, made a second arrest in the suspected fatal fentanyl overdose death that occurred in the Village of Kewaskum on November 9th, 2023.

Fatal Drug Overdose

Investigators with the Washington County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Division arrested a 26-year-old City of Racine man on Thursday in connection with a probable fatal fentanyl overdose in the Village of Kewaskum that occurred the prior day.

Community Notification

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the following information pursuant to WI Statute 301.46(2m) which authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sex offender’s release when, in the discretion of the agency, the release of information will enhance public safety, awareness and protection. The individual who appears on this notification has been convicted of a sex offense.

Semi Tractor Trailer Fire

On Friday, October 27th at approximately 4:21am, the Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of STH 33 and Hilltop Dr (Town of Addison) for a report of a semi tractor trailer engulfed in flames. The uninvolved caller advised the trailer portion was engulfed in flames and that the uninjured semi tractor operator was disconnected from the trailer.

Richfield Home Invasion Arrests

Washington County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested four suspects in connection with the October 17th armed home invasion in the Village of Richfield on Friday, October 27th. The first two were taken into custody during a search warrant with the assistance of the Milwaukee Police Department Tactical Enforcement Unit early Friday morning. The other two suspects were arrested later the same day with help from the Milwaukee Police Special Investigations Division and the Wauwatosa Police Department. The names of the suspects are not being released at this time as they have not been formally charged. The two suspected of entering the residence armed with loaded firearms are 18- and 19-year-old men from the City of Milwaukee. Two women, both age 18, were arrested for party to a crime for their involvement in the invasions.

Update: Boating Incident – Pike Lake 23-36714

On Sunday, October 22, 2023, shortly before 2:00pm the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a citizen who was boating on Pike Lake, and advised they believed they located the lost boater from Wednesday’s incident submerged underwater.

On Wednesday, October 18th, 2023, at 9:06 PM, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a request to check the welfare of a boater on Pike Lake in the Town of Hartford. The caller reported that her eighty-year-old husband had gone out to the lake several hours ago but had not yet returned home.

On Tuesday, October 17th, 2023, at approximately 5:25pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an attempted strong-armed robbery in the Village of Richfield. The caller reported receiving an unexpected package from UPS. After a resident brought the package inside, a black male wearing a gray sweatshirt and orange Hi-Vis vest knocked on the door. The suspect advised a package was delivered for him at this address. He attempted to force his way into the residence to take it. A physical confrontation occurred between the suspect and the residents. The suspect then fled the area.

Home Invasion UPDATE

As Washington County Sheriff’s Office investigators continue to diligently pursue leads in last night’s home invasion robbery in the Village of Richfield, we want to provide additional details on the incident to the community. The home invasion occurred in the Nob Hill Drive subdivision north of CTH Q in the Village of Richfield. Three younger black males were observed in the subdivision for at least an hour before the package was delivered a little after 5:00 p.m. It is believed that they were in the area waiting for the anticipated delivery of the package and were observed in what is described as a dark-colored newer SUV, possibly a Chevy Equinox. The male suspect who went up to the house and originally confronted the homeowners is described as a shorter/skinnier black male around 18 years of age wearing a yellow traffic vest. He was observed on foot in the subdivision leading up to this incident as well.

On Monday, October 16th, 2023, at approximately 9:48 PM, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a residential fire in the 4100 block of Hy 175 in the Town of Polk. The caller on scene reported that the fire had started in a garbage receptacle located outside of the residence and had spread to the home.
