Straight Truck Roll-Over Hwy 41 SB
Posted on 05/24/2021
On Monday 05/24/2021 at 3:05pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center began taking calls of a straight box truck on its side in the median of Hwy 41 SB just south of Hwy 60. Initial calls stated that the vehicle was potentially on fire. Upon the arrival of law enforcement on scene, the vehicle was found to not be on fire and any smoke was likely from the refrigerator unit on the cargo box of the truck. Another passenger vehicle was also found to have been struck in the accident.

Through the investigation, it was found that the box truck had just entered Hwy 41 SB from Hwy 60, at which point the truck encountered slowing or stopping southbound traffic. The truck swerved into the left lane of traffic, striking the passenger vehicle, before the box truck entered the median and struck the median cables, damaging approximately 100 yards of cable barrier. The truck then came to rest on its side. The operator of the box truck was transported to the hospital for evaluation and is believed to have only minor injuries. The driver of the passenger vehicle was assessed by rescue on scene but was not transported.

Due to evening rush-hour traffic beginning and the truck being out of the roadway, the decision was made to delay the recovery of the overturned truck until later into the evening of 05/24 in order to limit the impact of this operation on commuter traffic and the citizens of Washington County. The vehicle is expected to be removed by the Tuesday morning commute.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Slinger Police Department, the Slinger Fire Department, Lifestar Rescue and the Wisconsin State Patrol during this crash.
