Shoreland, Floodplain, Wetland Permits Now Available Electronically

After June 1, 2024, hard copy records will be destroyed

WEST BEND, WIThe Washington County Natural Resources Department has completed the transfer of its public permit records to electronic format pursuant to Ch. 94 Article II of the Washington County Code.  Residents can now find copies of permits online.

This includes all permit applications and associated plans related to the County’s Shoreland, Wetland and Floodplain Ordinance including Shoreland Zoning/Rezoning, Administrative Permits, Conditional Use Permits and Board of Adjustment Hearings/Variances and Erosion Control Permits for all unincorporated areas of Washington County (including some parcels that are now annexed to a Village or City) from 1969 to current and in perpetuity as they are scanned and plan to be destroyed. 

After June 1, 2024, hard copy records will be destroyed. Any resident interested in obtaining the original hard copy permit files for their property can pick them up during business hours by visiting 333 E. Washington Street or by e-mailing [email protected] now through June 1, 2024.  An appointment or e-mail is appreciated so that the files can be located and prepared for pickup.
