Washington County Holds Second Next Generation Housing Groundbreaking

West Bend, WI – Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann participated in another groundbreaking for the Next Generation Housing initiative yesterday for Lots 67-73 in the Skyway Park Subdivision in Hartford. Also participating in the event were Tom Hostad, Executive Director of the Hartford Area Development Corporation (HADC), A&N Contractors owners Nate Dziatkiewicz and Tony Monfre, and Washington County Community Development Director Deb Sielski.

The builder, A & N Contracting, has begun construction on seven home packages starting at $319,990, with the first home expected to be ready for occupancy in spring of 2024. The Skyway Park Subdivision is near the intersection Saddle Drive and Skypark Drive. A & N Contracting owners Tony Monfre and Nate Dziatkiewicz are planning on having all seven homes constructed by the end of 2025.

Washington County and the Hartford Area Development Corporation (HADC) believe this Demonstration Project of seven Next Generation Homes can be a successful way of working towards the goal of creating 1000 new owner-occupied homes in Washington County.

The Next Generation Housing (NGH) Initiative was launched in October of 2021. Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann recognized the need for high quality attainable housing and established this initiative to create more “Missing Middle” housing in the County. The main goal is to create 1,000 new owner-occupied dwelling units in Next Generation Housing developments with 75% selling for under $320,000 and 100% under $420,000, including home and lot/site, by 2032.
