Greenhouse Fire

This morning at approximately 7:17am the Sheriff’s Office received a call about a possible greenhouse fire at a residence in the 5900 block of Cty Tk Y in the Town of Trenton. The caller reported smoke, and flames were observed coming from the greenhouse. Deputies were dispatched to this location along with the Newburg Fire Department.

The first responding deputy arrived at approximately 7:27am and observed the greenhouse actively on fire and there was a barn 30-40 feet to the east of the greenhouse with wind blowing toward the barn. Newburg Fire Department upgraded the call to a MABAS call while enroute and arrived at approximately 7:33am. Fire Department personnel were quickly able to bring the fire under control and canceled the MABAS response at approximately 7:36am.

The preliminary investigation revealed there were heat lamps and heating pads in use in the greenhouse for newly purchased baby chickens. There was also a tractor inside which is a total loss. The greenhouse will likely be a total loss as well. There is currently no damage estimate available. There were no reported injuries to anyone involved in this incident and no further information is available.
