County Adds New 4-H Educator Position

West Bend, WI – The Washington County Board unanimously approved a recommendation to make changes to its long-tenured agreement with UW-Madison – Division of Extension. This will include the addition of a second county-funded 4-H Educator to double down on enhancing existing 4-H Clubs and establish new 4-H Clubs in the direction of Automation, Innovation and Robotics.

County Executive Josh Schoemann said, “4-H has a record of success in Washington County with positively developing our youth.  I am pleased to express my support for 4-H and the social capital it creates in our community as adult volunteers work to teach our youth new skills.”

Based on recommendations from a community taskforce last spring, the focus to best serve Washington County residents will include post-secondary pathways and expanding access to youth starting in grade school to help them learn about Science, Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) or Automation, Innovation and Robotics (AIR).

The focus of new programming will include access to career exploration for students and parents through awareness building activities that support regional workforce needs.   Specific efforts hope to complement Moraine Park Technical College’s Manufacturing, Automation and Robotics Lab and create laddering opportunities among our youth programming.

Individuals interested in applying for the newly created 4-H Program Educator can now apply online.
