On 10/11/24 at 5:35pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center took a 911 call from a homeowner who reported their garage was on fire at 5861 Monches Rd in the Town of Erin. Washington County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and the Richfield Fire Department were subsequently dispatched to the scene.
Upon the arrival of Deputies and Richfield Fire, the approximately 30ft by 30ft garage attached to the residence was fully engulfed in flames. The Richfield Fire Department quickly upgraded the call to a box level fire call and was assisted by: Germantown Fire, Slinger Fire, Jackson Fire Allenton Fire, Lisbon Fire, Lifestar Ambulance, Hartford Fire, Merton Fire, Sussex Fire, Newburg Fire, West Bend Fire, Menomonee Falls Fire and Ambulance, Kohlsville Fire, Cedarburg Fire, Butler Fire, Pewaukee Ambulance, Hartland Fire and St. Lawrence Fire. The Wisconsin State Patrol assisted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with traffic control in the area.
The homeowner was able to exit the residence and did not sustain any injuries. A Richfield fire fighter was transported for minor injuries to Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls. Those injuries were sustained during firefighting operations and the Fire Fighter was treated and released from the hospital.
The fire was contained to mostly the garage and only approximately 10% of the residence sustained fire damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Richfield Fire Department.
