Case: Residential Structure Fire in the Town of Farmington
Authority: Sgt. Brad Rodich #417

On 10/13/2024 at 7:41pm, the Washington County Sheriff's Office Communications Center took a report of a residence on fire on Trading Post Trail near County Hwy A. A passerby reported that flames were visible from the attic/roof area. Fillmore Fire and Deputies were subsequently dispatched to the scene. Fillmore Fire quickly upgraded the response to the MABAS Box level.

Upon arrival, the fire department was able to access the attic via windows and suppress the fire. The fire was able to be contained to the attic and second floor portions of the residence, and the exterior remained largely intact. The remainder of the residence sustained smoke and water damage.

The initial investigation revealed that that home owners had had a fire in the fireplace earlier in the day. The fire appears to have started in the upper chimney portion of the residence, likely due to remnants of the prior fire. The homeowners were not at the residence at the time it was reported by the passerby. There were no injuries associated with the fire, and no damage estimates at this time.

The Fillmore Fire Department was assisted by the Boltonville, Kewaskum, Newburg, Jackson, Waubeka, Silver Creek and Fredonia Fire Departments.
