Washington County Executive Selects Former Milwaukee Fire Department

Deputy Chief to Fill Cabinet Role as Chief Public Safety Officer

WEST BEND, WI – Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann selected David Seager of Jackson to fill the new cabinet member role of Chief Public Safety Officer/Director of Emergency Preparedness. The position assists in the management of preparedness activities and public safety functions, along with participation on related task forces, councils and boards that ensure the safety of all citizens. The County Executive’s five cabinet members serve as liaisons between the county and the County Board committees.

Seager will play a prominent role in guiding the county’s Fire/EMS Task Force as they tackle the important challenges facing fire and emergency medical services in Washington County, that we are also seeing in communities across our state and our country. The task force is focused on finding potential efficiencies and solutions to volunteer needs and budgetary issues.

County Executive Josh Schoemann said, “Dave’s professional experience and his knowledge of the issues affecting the public safety community were the perfect fit for this new position. A bonus in addition to his background, he resides in Washington County, and is focused on the people here who hold public safety as a top priority.”

Seager recently retired as a Deputy Chief after 26 years with the Milwaukee Fire Department. He was introduced last month at the Local Elected Municipal Leaders meeting and officially started serving in the position July 15.
