On 03/23/2023, Washington County Communication took a report of a residential chimney fire on Highland Drive in the Town of Farmington. Boltonville Fire and Sheriff’s Deputies were subsequently dispatched to the residence.

Upon arrival, the homeowner and sole occupant was still inside attempting to slow the fire, but was assisted out by deputies. Boltonville Fire upgraded the fire to the working still level, and was assisted by Fillmore, Kewaskum and Silver Creek Fire. The fire had spread into a wall and roof, but was eventually contained and extinguished.

The investigation revealed that the fire likely started in the wall behind the wood burning stove. There are no damage estimates at this time. Highland Drive between Hy 144 and Boltonville was shut down for approximately two hours to facilitate the firefighting efforts.
