Washington County and Forward Contractors to Host Grand Opening at Former Niphos Coatings Site - a Brownfields Redevelopment Project

SLINGER, WI – The Washington County Site Redevelopment Program, in partnership with Forward Contractors, is proud to announce the grand opening of the 308 Oak Street Condominiums, a successful redevelopment of a vacant and blighted site. The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, November 5 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at 308 Oak Street, Slinger.

County Executive Josh Schoemann said, “Every redeveloped brownfield allows us to revitalize our communities, in this case with much needed options for homeowners through a public-private partnership. The condominium development by Forward Contractors transformed the site from a once-blighted location into what will become a thriving neighborhood community.

The site has a 140-year history of light industrial uses until Niphos Coating, a nickel-plating facility, closed in 2010. The site was then prepared for redevelopment over a 10-year period with assistance from the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Village of Slinger and Washington County’s Site Redevelopment Program. Forward Contractors brought to life the 4-unit condominium development which is being sold by Powers Realty Group.

The event will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, and then a tour of the completed units with light refreshments. Members of the public and media outlets are invited to attend.

Speakers will include Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann, Village of Slinger Administrator Margaret Wilber, Washington County Community Development Director Deb Sielski, and Mike LaLonde of Forward Contractors.
