How To Do Business With Washington County

Purchasing Overview

  • The Purchasing Division connects suppliers with County departments.
  • Most purchasing is conducted through competitive solicitation processes.      

Finding Bid Opportunities

  • Bid/proposal notices may be published in:
    • West Bend Daily News (Legal Notices) and Daily Reporter (construction projects)
  • Vendors may contact the Purchasing Office to learn about upcoming opportunities.

Bidder Qualification Statement

  • Contractors are encouraged to complete and submit a Bidder's Qualification Statement. Instructions are included with the form.
  • Statements are kept on file for one calendar year and contractors are encouraged to complete and submit a new statement annually.

Online Bidding - DemandStar Network

  • The County uses DemandStar as its online bidding platform.
  • Vendors can:
    • Search current bid opportunities
    • Register at no cost (via WAPP agreement)
    • Download procurement documents 

By registering online, you will be able to download the procurement documents for each opportunity posted. Once registered, you will also be able to:

  • Receive alerts when new opportunities are posted
  • Receive notices regarding updates and addenda issued for posting you have downloaded
  • Maintain your account information
  • Update your notification preferences

Insurance Certificates

  • Vendors who supply goods, services or both to Washington County must carry required levels of insurance.
  • Current insurance certificates are required to do business with the County.
  • Specific requirements are typically outlined in project bid documents. 

Surplus Property Sales

  • The Purchasing Division also manages the sale of surplus property.
  • Listings may be available on WisconsinSurplus.com.
  • To find items:
    • Search “Washington County” on search bar
    • Select exact phrase for best search results
