On Tuesday June 20, 2023, at approximately 2:51 pm the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a house fire at 3943 Oak Ave in the Town of Polk. The caller reported a trash can on the exterior of the residence had started on fire and the fire had spread to the residence.
The Slinger Fire Department was paged, upgraded the fire to the working still level and later upgraded it to a full box alarm. The following Departments were paged to assist: St. Lawrence, Harford, Allenton, Jackson, Kohlsville, Richfield, Germantown, Kewaskum and Life Star Rescue.
Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded and upon arrival of the first deputy, smoke could be seen coming from the attic area of the house and later active flames could be seen. The residence suffered severe fire, smoke, and water damage. There is no damage estimate currently. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but the preliminary investigation indicates the fire was accidental.
