On June 24th at approximately 7:50am the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a possible garage fire in the Village of Richfield at 3933 Cora Lane. A homeowner called and advised there was heavy black smoke coming from a detached garage on the property. The homeowner advised no one was in the garage and only personal property inside.
Minutes after receiving the call and upon deputies’ arrival, the detached garage was fully engulfed, and the male homeowner was spraying water on the garage near to keep fire from spreading to the residence. Richfield Fire arrived shortly after and with assistance from other departments, was able to extinguish the fire and keep the fire from spreading to the residence.
The approximately 1,000 square foot detached garage and its contents were a complete loss. The Washington County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the fire.
Assisting Richfield Fire were Germantown, Hartford, Slinger, Jackson, Allenton, St. Lawrence, Lisbon, Merton and Lifestar Rescue.
