Case: Residential Structure Fire 24-21886
Authority: Sgt. Brad Rodich #417
On 06/30/2024 at 6:14pm, the Washington County Communication Center took a 911 call from the owners of a residence on Hwy 175 south of Slinger reporting that the house was on fire and that all occupants had exited. Deputies and Slinger Fire were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival of the first Deputy, one of the homeowners was actively fighting the fire through a window with a garden hose, and smoke was seen coming from the residence. Slinger Fire upgraded the response to the Working Still level. The fire was able to be contained in a single room on the lower level, and was extinguished quickly upon fire personnel’s arrival. Slinger Fire was assisted by Hartford, Jackson, St. Lawrence, Richfield, Allenton Fires and Lifestar Rescue.
The initial investigation showed that a chicken egg incubator had recently been placed in that room, and the fire appears to have originated from the area of the outlet where the heat lamp had been. There were no injuries as a result of the fire, and no damage estimates at this time. A portion of Hy 175 was shut down for approximately one hour.
