Case: ATV Crash with Injury - 24-30925
Authority: Sgt Alexander Herriges
On Friday, September 13th, 2024, at 8:53 PM, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a crash involving an All-Terrain Vehicle at the intersection of Arthur Rd and Cty Tk U in the Town of Hartford. The crash was reported by a passerby. Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene along with rescue personnel from the Hartford Fire Department.
Rescue personnel arrived on scene prior to deputies and had immediately begun life-saving measures on the ATV operator. A single ATV was located upright in the ditch on the northeast corner of the intersection. There was nothing located on scene that indicated the involvement of another vehicle.
The lone occupant of the ATV, a 46-year-old Town of Hartford man, sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to Aurora Medical Center Summit by Flight for Life. He was in stable condition at the time of this release.
A section of Arthur Rd east of Cty Tk U was closed for approximately one-and-a-half hours during the investigation. The crash was unwitnessed, and the cause is still under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash.
