Case: Residential Structure Fire in Richfield
Authority: Sgt Brad Rodich #417

On 02/04/2025 at 2:57pm, the Washington County Sheriff's Office Communication Center received a 911 call from a passerby reporting visible flames coming from a residence on Plat Rd north of Monches Rd in the Village of Richfield. Deputies and Richfield Fire were subsequently dispatched to the scene.

The first deputy arrived and confirmed visible smoke and flames. The deputy also deployed a fires suppression device into the affected area of the residence in an attempt to slow the fire. Richfield Fire quickly upgraded the fire response to the Working Still level.

The homeowner arrived on scene a short time later and confirmed there were no occupants in the residence. The fire continued to spread through the large residence, with firefighting efforts hampered by temperatures and water supply. The response was ultimately upgraded through the MABAS 3rd Box Level, and to the 5th Box Level for tenders for additional water. Upwards of 100,000 gallons of water were used during the response, however the vast majority of the residence sustained severe fire damage and will likely be deemed a total loss. There are no damage estimates at this time. The fire is still under investigation by Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigators.
