Garage Fire

Today at approximately 11:06am the Sheriff’s Office received a call about a possible garage fire at Scenic Traveler RV Center located at 3155 Scenic Rd in the Town of Polk. The caller reported smoke and flames were coming out of the structure which was a detached garage not near the main building. The Slinger Fire Department was paged, and the call was upgraded to a MABAS call. Fire Departments from Jackson, Hartford St. Lawrence and Richfield were paged to assist along with Lifestar Rescue.

The first responding Deputy arrived at approximately 11:10am and reported the structure was fully engulfed. Fire Department personnel had the fire extinguished by approximately 11:45am and there were no injuries to anyone on scene. The preliminary investigation revealed a lawn mower had recently been used by a landscaper and the lawn mower was put back into the garage shortly before the fire was observed.

The garage and contents are a total loss and the owner estimated the value at approximately $15,000. At this time no further information is available.
