Case: Fatal Vehicle Crash 25-35442
Authority: Sergeant Alexander Herriges
On Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 8:38 PM, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center was notified of a motorcycle versus passenger vehicle crash on Hy 175 at Hillside Rd in the Town of Polk. Initial information from multiple callers on scene indicated that the operator of the motorcycle was unresponsive and that bystanders were attempting life-saving measures.
Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office along with multiple officers from the Slinger Police Department and a Trooper from the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the scene. Emergency personnel from Slinger Fire Department and Lifestar Ambulance Services also responded to the scene and took over rescue efforts. The operator of the motorcycle, a fifty-four-year-old man from the Village of Richfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the other vehicle involved was checked out by rescue personnel on scene but did not require transport.
The Crash Reconstruction Unit from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene for further investigation. Preliminary statements received on scene indicated that the motorcycle was traveling south on Hy 175 and the passenger vehicle stopped facing north on Hillside Rd at the stop sign at Hy 175. The operator of the passenger vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way from the stop sign to the southbound motorcycle and entered the intersection, colliding with the motorcycle. This was the sixth fatal vehicle crash in Washington County in 2025.
Hy 175 between Sherman Rd and Farmlane Dr was shut down for approximately four hours to accommodate the investigation and removal of the vehicles. The incident remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit. There is no further information at this time.
