On 11/29/2025 at 5:36pm, Sunburst Ski Hill located at 8355 Prospect Drive in the Town of Kewaskum contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center stating that they had suffered a partial power outage resulting in a chair lift becoming immobilized with riders on board. Staff and Ski Patrol were already working on rescue efforts, however they requested the Kewaskum Fire Department for additional manpower. Fire personnel and Deputies were subsequently dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, fourteen individuals were found to be on the ski lift. Sunburst Staff, working with Kewaskum Fire, were able assist all individuals to the ground utilizing the on-site rope rescue systems within one hour of the initial call. All parties were offered on-scene medical assessment, however all were in good condition and declined any assistance. The lift will be inspected before going back into service.
