Authority: Sergeant Scott Hanson

On Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at 6:33 am, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls reporting a semi crash in the south bound lanes of Interstate 41 north of Highway 145.

Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded along with the Jackson Fire Department. Upon arrival of the first deputy, it was determined that the semi was the only vehicle involved and the driver had sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The 68 year old male driver was transported via ambulance to Froedtert Wauwatosa.

An initial investigation showed that the semi was north bound on Interstate 41 when it drifted into the median. The semi passed over the barrier cables, crossed both south bound lanes of traffic and came to rest in the west shoulder of Interstate 41. The crash remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office but inattentive driving appears to be a factor.

The Jackson Fire Department along with the Sheriff’s Office are still on scene as the right lane of Interstate 41 remains closed to assist in the removal of the semi and its cargo. Interstate 41 is expected to be fully open prior to the evening rush hour.
